PPCP United Way Campaign
A Message from Our President
The first three quarters of this year have been among the most
difficult in the history of PPCP. It seeems as if our customers
needed less and less of the castings we produce for them while at
the same time we have experienced operational problems that have
caused our scrap and internal costs to be higher than we have ever
experienced.
As I write this article, I am truly hopeful that we are seeing the
light at the end of this long tunnel. There are three factors that
are causing my positive outlook:
1. As you all know, on September 19, 2003 we completed the merger
with Quality Investment Casting in Berks County. This was the culmination
of many months of discussions between Al Ottinger, President of
QIC, and myself, considering the benefits of such a merger and how
to structure a financial package that would work for both companies.
The result of all of the work was the completion of the merger,
which has transferred all of QIC’s tools and customers here
to Lebanon, as well as the purchase of all of QIC’s production
equipment. To date almost every QIC customer has expressed a willingness
to have us manufacture their parts. Now it us up to us to do the
job successfully and not disappoint them. I project that this work
will be adding $250,000 to $400,000 per month to our vol-ume. In
addition, Al Ottinger has joined our staff in the capacity of VP
of Sales and will be working hard to bring additional work to PPCP
in the months to come. I should also mention that Rick Schmidt,
who was also an owner of QIC, has joined our staff and has worked
countless hours to make the transfer of work from QIC to PPCP a
success.
2. After months of experiments, we have found a solution to our
dip room slurry formula problems that has reduced out scrap from
blowouts and non-fill to a much lower level that we have experienced
in a long while. September was the first month in many that these
were not our top scrap reasons for the month. We also saw our internal
scrap drop below 10% and move toward our goal of reducing internal
scrap to or below 7%.
3. There appears to be positive news on the economic scene. In our
case, the core PPCP bookings for the month of September where the
highest we have seen in over a year and October bookings are strong
as well. Every economic indicator is pointing to the fact that we
have passed the bottom of the economic decline and are on the upward
path again. This will only provide good news for PPCP in the months
ahead.
I am reminded that this will be the last newsletter we publish before
the end of the year, and though this is early, I would like to take
this opportunity to wish each of our PPCP employees and their family
a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. In the hectic world
we find ourselves in, it is important that we set aside time during
these holidays to reflect on the blessing of our families and the
wonderful gifts we have received from God . . . the most wonderful
of all being the advent of Christ who’s arrival we celebrate
at Christmas, but who’s gift through His death provides a
way of Salvation.
Thank you all for your part in making PPCP a success.

A Message
from Our VP of Sales
The past few months have been very challenging and rewarding, as
we have merged PPCP and QIC. When the dust settles we will emerge
stronger than ever before. As we head into 2004, we are con-fident
exciting things will be happening for our company and our customers.
All QIC personnel that have been added to the staff are pleased
to have become part of the PPCP team. We have been impressed with
the cooperation shown in ensuring this transition period proceeds
smoothly. We're excited about the ability to add the strengths we
developed at Quality Investment Castings, Inc. to the
extensive talent at PPCP.
I'm also excited about the expanded resource base at PPCP and my
opportunity to focus on finding better ways to serve all of our
customers. We realize that the American manufacturing environ-ment
has become more challenging and we need to continually add value
for our customers in order to ensure our competitive position.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any metallurgical con-cerns
or if there is any other way that I can be of assistance. I am eager
to work with the entire customer base to make PPCP’s serv-ice
more effective than ever before.

Customer
Profile
PPCP is pleased to profile a new company we are serving as a result
of our recent merger with QIC.
Pulsafeeder, which is located in Rochester, NY,
is the leading globalmanufacturer of chemical injection metering
pumps and pump con-trollers. Pulsafeeder offers the world's widest
range of precision hydraulic diaphragm metering pumps, mechanical
diaphragm meter-ing pumps, solenoid actuated metering pumps, peristaltic
pumps, gear pumps, regenerative turbine pumps, multiple stage centrifugal
pumps, sealless mag drive pumps, sliding vane pumps, pump con-trollers,
and chemical feed system pumping technologies.
Pulsafeeder buyers Paula Rice and Mark Stella visited our facility
in early October of this year. We have processed many orders for
Pulsafeeder since the transition with positive results.
Pulsafeeder also buys castings directly from machine shops with
whom they are affiliated. As a result there are other customers
for whom we make parts for that ultimately end up in Pulsafeeder’s
Rochester facility. These machine shops include Atlantic Engineering,
Jrlon, Willard Machine, and E&R Machine.

PPCP
United Way Campaign
The 2003 PPCP United Way Campaign was kicked off with an employee
meal on Octobeer 22, 2003. The hamburgers and hot dogs were grilled
by many of PPCP’s department heads. At the end of our drive,
$11,065.00 was pledged by our employees to United Way of Lebanon
County. This total exceeded our company goal of $10,000. A total
of eight PPCP employees pledged $500.00 and were added to the ‘JOIN
THE LEADER GROUP” for 2003. These employees will have the
opportunity to have a tour of some United Way Agencies and a meal
later in the year.
Prior to this year’s PPCP United Way Campaign, many of
our suppliers were contacted to see if they would be interested
in donating various incentive gifts.
