A Message From Our President – Andrew Miller

When I was a kid (and later into my teenage years and beyond!), I was very good at getting into trouble!  Many times this resulted in heart to heart discussions with my parents about getting it together and keeping me in line.  Many times these discussions ended with me asking them, “Can we have a fresh start?” There were times when we needed a “do-over” and we did move on in a positive manner. 

Over the years we have been a solid supplier of investment castings and provided strong service to our industry but we want to continually develop new strategies for increasing our level of quality and service. We have the proper people and are working to enhance our facility and space to service customers in the best possible manner.

Along these lines we are planning a “do-over” which includes moving our finishing, inspection, shipping, and warehousing operation to another PPCP facility located across the street. This move will have tremendous positive impacts on our ability to grow our capacity and efficiencies at our plant. One big boost will be our ability to purchase and install a third melting unit. To add a third melting unit we need space. This move will ensure that we always meet customer delivery requirements. The move also allows us to pursue additional robotic dipping capacity, wax room layout enhancements, and move customer tooling in close proximity to the wax room. These are just a few of the numerous productivity improvements that can be made as a direct result of this effort.  It will be very exciting to see our facility become better suited to our goals of creating and delivering good, sound investment castings on time.

I am also quite excited about the efforts and results of our Quality Improvement Committee. This committee has been working hard to implement some exciting changes in our processes that are designed to make significant reductions in scrap and gains in quality.  We will be implementing a new handle system that will save labor, handling and scrap.

Lastly, I am proud and honored to serve this company as President and Chief Operating Officer. Our future looks very promising, and I have every intention of working to the best of my ability to lead in a manner that creates positive results for everyone associated with PPCP.

Chairman’s Corner

For more than twenty years of writing the message form the President on the cover of our newsletter, it seems strange to be relegated to page two.

Actually, I am here totally by my own choosing. After all of these years serving as the President of PPCP, I am totally comfortable turning over the day to day responsibilities to Andrew.

I believe that he has the education, experience, and enthusiasm to lead this fine company into a new era. I believe that too many owners wait too long to develop a succession plan and process of turning over the authority to a younger generation.

Having said this, I assure you that I am not leaving the company and entering the world of retirement. I continue to own the company and, for the foreseeable future will be filling the role of Chief Financial Officer for PPCP.

I am convinced that as a team, Andy and I will provide the leadership our company needs to meet the challenges of the years that lie ahead of us.
