PPCP Featured in Lebanon Daily News for Being Chosen by
Artist Zachary Oxman to Produce a Duke Ellington Sculpture

Lebanon, PA — Leading Central PA investment casting company, Pennsylvania Precision Cast Parts, Inc. (PPCP), is proud to announce that they are featured in the Lebanon Daily News article titled, "Casting a Legend in Steel."

Artist Zachary Oxman selected both PPCP and E&E Metal Fab to work in collaboration on his latest creation: a stainless-steel sculpture of jazz legend Duke Ellington at a piano.

PPCP was responsible for pouring the stainless steel needed for the Ellington Sculpture. "We’ve been very successful with [Oxman] and other artists," states Dan Hummel, Operations Manager, PPCP. "We’re pouring faces and masks for another artist [as well]."

As the article states, Oxman assembled the Ellington sculpture in Bethesda, MD, over a 2 hour commute from Lebanon, PA. E&E Metal Fab welded the sculpture sections together and shipped it to D.C, where Oxman forged the sculpture and made his own wax molds.

The renowned artist has worked with Pennsylvania Precision Cast Parts on other projects since their initial interaction in 2005 when a contact based in Balitmore referred him to PPCP to assist with a giant typewriter sculpture for a newspaper in Indiana. While the work needed from PPCP for this particlar project was stainless steel, PPCP has used bronze and other metals for additional artists' works.

"It was a pleasure working with Oxman again. He has a great deal of talent and an extensive portolio, as he has worked with bronze for items made exclusively for President Bill Clinton and first lady Hillary Clinton." Oxman works have been present in exhibitions all across the states, from New York to San Francisco.

PPCP Spring 2010 News

PPCP Developments:

In November 2008 PPCP began to see a significant drop in order levels. Most manufacturing organizations were impacted by the general economy which resulted in reduced levels of sales and opportunities. PPCP responded by making adjustments internally to remain viable through the down time. We also used this as an opportunity to get busy working on the company performance indicators. We have achieved a great deal of success, especially over the past 6 months.

ON TIME DELIVERY:

PPCP was never outstanding in relation to delivery performance. We at times were not even respectable. This was PRIORITY #1 for our Management Team: Upper Management, Supervisors, and employees developed the system and parameters to change this PERMANENTLY. The results have been impressive:

OVERALL PLANT PERFORMANCE:

December 2009: 68% (ran similar poor levels last 4-6 months of 2009)
January 2010: Challenge to shop was 85%. We hit 83%.
February 2010: Goal was 90%. Shop hit 94.4%
March 2010: Goal was 95%. Shop hit 94.1%
April 2010: Goal was 95%. Shop hit 97.2%.

We will continue to work to improve these numbers and maintain them. It is the best performance we have had in our history. System created WORKS and will continue to work
